Vor einiger Zeit probierte ich ja aus, wie man aus Papier Portemonnaies nähen könnte und war schliesslich bei Packpapier und Landkarten gelandet. Nun habe ich eine vereinfachte, kleinere Variante gemacht.
Die neuen Portemonnaies bestehen aus viel weniger Einzelteilen: Ein Stück Landkarte für das Portemonnaie selber, Viertelkreise für die Seitenklappen und verstärktes Packpapier für ein Innenfach. Dann braucht man noch Klett und Reissverschluss (nicht im Bild).
Bei der Karte kommt auf beiden Seiten oben und unten je eine Klettverschluss-Hälfte drauf. So lässt es sich dann am Ende schliessen. Danach werden alle Ränder ca. 1 cm eingefaltet.
Nun fehlen noch die Seitenklappen und das Innenfach, bevor man die eingefalteten Ränder dann am Schluss festnähen kann.
Die Klappen werden erst mal nur an einer Seite festgenäht.
Danach kommt das Innenfach dran: Es handelt sich dabei bloss um ein Viereck, bei dem oben und unten eine Reissverschluss-Hälfte drangenäht wurde. Am Schluss habe ich das Papier zusammengefaltet und den Schieber eingezogen, so dass ein geschlossenes Fach entstand.
Das Innenfach wird dann unter die Ränder geschoben. Die freie Kanten der Seitenklappen werden über das Innenfach gelegt und dann näht man alles auf einmal fest (davon konnte ich kein gutes Foto machen, aber wenn es jemand ganz genau wissen will, fragt einfach!)
Ich mag diese neue Variante. Sie ist sehr kompakt, aber das Nötigste hat trotzdem gut Platz. Ich würde am Liebsten noch eine weitere Variante ausprobieren, bei der man noch mehr falten würde, und die Faltung die Form bestimmen würde. Eine Art Origami-Portemonnaie. Aber da müsste ich erst wieder ausprobieren.
Ich verkaufe diese Portemonnaies übrigens an zwei Weihnachtsmärkten in Luzern (und die grossen Portemonnaies. Und Kissen. Und Schals, Weihnachtskarten, Geschenkpapier, und Skizzenhefte. Wirklich, es hat für jeden etwas!). Ich bin am 25. und 26. November am "Hallen-luja" im Neubad und am 9. Dezember am "Bazar Pazzo" im Bourbaki. Kommt doch vorbei!

Some time ago I tested how to make wallets from paper, and ended up using packing paper and old maps. Now I made a smaller, simpler version.
The new wallets require less pieces: Just a piece of a map for the wallet itself, quarter circles for the sides and reinforced packing paper for an inner pocket. And you also need velcro and an endless zipper.
I sewed one half of the velcro on each side of the map-piece to make a closure. Then I folded in the edges (about 1 cm).
Now I needed to make the side flaps and the inner pocket before I could sew the edges.
The sides are only attached on one side first.
Then I made the inner pocket: It's really just a rectangle with a one half of a zipper on the top and on the bottom. After sewing on the zipper I folded the paper and inserted the slider.
I then put the inner pocket under the edges and folded the free edges of the flaps over it. Finally, I sewed it all on at once (I don't have any useful pictures for this step, but if you want to know how it's done exactly, feel free to ask!)
I like this new version. It's very compact, but still has enough space. I would love to make another version with more intricate folding, like an origami-wallet. But I would have to figure it out first.
By the way, I'm selling those wallets on two Christmas markets in Lucerne (and the big wallets. And pillows. And scarfs, Christmas cards, wrapping paper and sketch books.
