Mein erster Weihnachtsmarkt

Guten Abend allerseits

Wie im letzten Post angekündigt, mache ich dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal an einigen Weihnachtsmärkten mit. Tja, der erste hat letztes Wochenende stattgefunden: Das "Hallen-luja" im Neubad. Ich möchte euch davon einige Bilder zeigen. Zum Beispiel von meinem Stand:

Die meisten Sachen, die ich verkaufte, waren durch Cyanotypie entstanden, wie grosse und kleine Weihnachtskarten und Skizzenhefte.

Ich verkaufte auch Stoffsachen, nämlich Kissen und Seidenschals.

Uuund dann waren da noch die Portemonnaies aus Landkarten und Kork.

Wer das Neubad nicht kennt: Es handelt sich dabei um das ehemalige Hallenbad der Stadt Luzern. Seit 2012 wird gibt es dort Ateliers, kulturelle Veranstaltungen, ein Urban-Farming-Projekt und ein gemütliches Bistro. Der Markt fand im Pool (und drum herum) statt. Auf den Fotos könnt ihr auch die ehemalige Wasserrutsche sehen, die farblich natürlich super zu meinen Sachen passte.

Es war ein schönes Erlebnis. Merci allen, die mich besuchten, Fragen stellten oder sogar etwas kauften, mir beim Transportieren geholfen oder extra eine Lichterkette gebracht haben :-)

... und falls ihr jetzt doch noch ein wenig neugierig geworden seid, nächstes Wochenende (9. Dezember) bin ich dann am "Bazar Pazzo" im Bourbaki, ebenfalls in Luzern.

As I mentioned in my last post, I participate in some Christmas markets this year. And well, the first one took place last weekend: The "Hallen-luja" at the Neubad in Lucerne. I'd like to share some pictures with you, from my stall for example. Most of the my things where cyanotypes, like big and small Christmas cards or sketchbooks. I also had things made of fabric, like pillows and scarfs. Aaand of course wallets made out of cork or maps.

In case you don't know the Neubad: It's the former swimming pool of Lucerne. Since 2012 it houses many studios, cultural events like concerts or exhibitions, an urban farming project and a nice bistro. The market took place inside (and around) the pool. You can see the former water slide on the images (which, I found, matched the cyanotypes perfectly).

It was a lovely experience. Thanks to everyone who visited me, asked questions or even bought something, helped me transporting or fetched me a chain of lights :-)

... and just in case you got a little bit curious, next weekend (9th of December) I will be at the "Bazar Pazzo" at the Bourbaki, also in Lucerne.

Marktfotos und das komplette Kleid

Hallo

Nun ist es natürlich doch wieder etwas länger gegangen mit dem Post zum Unterkleid für mein neues Mittelalterkleid. Dafür habe ich noch einige Fotos vom Mittelaltermarkt zu Luzern von diesem Jahr mit hineingepackt, für den ich das Kleid ja genäht hatte. Aber immer schön der Reihe nach:
Das Unterkleid hat mehr oder weniger den selben Schnitt wie das Überkleid, wird aber vorne statt seitlich geschnürt und hat lange Ärmel. Ausserdem wollte ich, dass die Ärmel abnehmbar sind, falls ich es mal mit einem anderen Kleid kombinieren will oder wenn es im Sommer sehr heiss wird.
Weil die Ärmel separat waren, brauchte ich sehr viele Belege: Am Ausschnitt, an den Ärmeln und Armlöchern.

An den Rändern der Ärmel und Armlöcher habe ich einen Festonstich gestickt. Dazwischen habe ich eine Häkelschnur durchgefädelt, um Kleid und Ärmel zusammenbinden zu können.

Und wie war der Mittelaltermarkt 2016? Nun, zuerst kalt, dann warm, und im Grossen und Ganzen schön! Am Sonntag Morgen hatte ich sogar kurz Zeit, um über den Platz zu gehen und ein paar Fotos zu machen.

Und jetzt muss ich auch schon wieder aufhören mit schreiben. Nächste Woche ist Fantasy Basel und ich wünschte, ich könnte behaupten, dass ich schon im Endspurt für mein Kostüm bin, aber so weit bin ich leider noch längst nicht!

It took me a little longer to make this post about my undergown for the new medieval dress. As an apology I added some photos of the medieval fair in Lucerne, where I first wore it. But let's talk about the dress first:
The undergown has more or less the same cut as the dress itself, but it's laced at the front instead of the sides and has long sleeves. What's more, I wanted the sleeves to be detachable, in case I want to combine the undergown with other (future) dresses or for when it gets too hot in the summer.
Because the sleeves where separate, I needed a lot of hem facings: For the neckline, on the sleeves and the arm holes.

I used a blanket stitch along the edges of the sleeves and the arm holes. Then I put a crocheted cord through it to tie dress and sleeves together.

On the sixth picture you can see me wearing the complete outfit. I may not look like it on the photo, but I'm quite happy with the result!

And how was the medieval fair itself? Well, first it was cold, then warm, and all in all very nice! This year, I even had some time to walk around and take some pictures. If you want to see more, go to the gallery at www.mittelaltermarkt-luzern.ch, there are loads of photos!

And now I really have to stop writing. Next week is the Fantasy Basel and my new costume is still far from "nearly finished".

Luzerns D.I.Y. - November

Ihr Lieben

Von mir selbst gibt es im Moment zwar nichts Neues, aber um mich herum scheint diesen Monat alles auf Handarbeit eingestellt zu sein. Deshalb hier drei Lese- und Veranstaltungs-Tipps für alle Leute, die öfters mal nach Luzern kommen und sich für Selbstgemachtes begeistern:

1.
Das Kulturmagazin 041 widmet ihre aktuelle Ausgabe dem Thema Textilien. Es werden Kulturschaffende aus der Region vorgestellt, die mit Textilien arbeiten, wie z.B. einer Theaterschneiderin, jungen Designerinnen oder einem Kollektiv, das den Leuten das Stricken und Färben näher bringt. In einem Selbstversuch erzählt jemand von seinen ersten Stickversuchen seit Jahren. Ein anderer Bericht sinniert darüber, warum die Handarbeit wieder so beliebt geworden ist. Ich hatte natürlich viel Freude an dieser Ausgabe.

Am Samstag, 15. November findet im Paulusheim der Koffermarkt statt. Leute präsentieren und verkaufen ihre selbst gemachten Produkte. Die Auswahl ist gross, Hauptsache, es passt in einen Koffer. Ich war letztes Jahr schon dort (und am Season-Market, siehe weiter unten) und fand die es sehr anregend, so viele Ideen auf einen Haufen zu sehen.

Nur zwei Wochen später, am Sonntag, 30. November gibt es im Neubad eine ganz ähnliche Veranstaltung: Dann ist nämlich der Guzuu Season-Market. (Für alle, die's nicht kennen: Guzuu ist eine Art kleines Etsy, aber eher auf die Schweiz ausgerichtet.) Auch hier gibt es allerlei Selbstgemachtes zu kaufen. Die Palette reicht von Schmuck über Karten zu Lebkuchen bis zu ganzen Kleidungsstücken und ist auf Weihnachten ausgerichtet. Um sich frühzeitig mit kleinen Geschenken einzudecken. Alles klar?

Hello my dears

There's nothing new from myself at the moment, but all around me everything seems to be about D.I.Y. this month. So here are three tipps for all the people around Lucerne who love selfmade things.

1.
This months' issue of "041-das Kulturmagazin" is all about textiles. They introduce local people who work with textiles, for example a theater dressmaker, young designers or two artists that teach people how to knit and dye. One writer tells about his experiences when restarting to knit after years. Another article reasons about why crafts have become so popular again in the recent years. As you can imagine, I really loved this issue.

2.
On Saturday, the 15th of November is the "suitcase market" at the Paulusheim. Different people present and sell their homemade products. There is a big choice, everything is allowed as long as it fits into a suitcase. I was there as a visitor last year (and at last years' season market, as you can see below) and I found it really thrilling to see all those different ideas at one place.

Only two weeks later, on Sunday, the 30th of November there's a very similar event at the Neubad: The Guzuu Season-Market. (For those who don't know Guzuu: It's like a Mini-Etsy, but focused on Switzerland.) Here you can also find all kinds of selfmade things, from jewelry to cards to gingerbread to dresses. A lot of stuff is Christmas-themed. So you can get some small presents on time. You see?
