Souvenirs

Da ich in einigen Wochen umziehen werde, komme ich so bald wohl kaum dazu, etwas Neues zu nähen. Immerhin bleibt aber die Zeit, von neuen Projekten zu träumen. Inspirationsmaterial gibt es genug. Einige besonders tolle Dinge in dieser Hinsicht wurden mir in diesem Sommer von Reisen heimgebracht oder ich entdeckte sie selber.

Das erste ist ein Spitzenband, das ich in den Sommerferien in einem Second-Hand-Laden in Kopenhagen gefunden hatte. Sie soll aus dem Jahr 1910 stammen. Ob das wohl stimmt? Jedenfalls fand ich sie wunderschön und habe etwas Vergleichbares auch noch nie in einem anderen Laden gesehen. Die einzige Sorge ist, was ich damit nur anstelle, damit es der Spitze auch gerecht wird. Zumal sie auch nur 3 Meter lang ist.

Dann bekam ich von einer Freundin einen Fächer aus Venedig geschenkt. Er passt super zu einem schwarzen Sonnenschirm, den ich vor zwei Jahren ebenfalls in Venedig gekauft hatte.

Die Frau scheint mich wirklich gut zu kennen, denn sie brachte mir ausserdem  ein Büchlein mit Postkarten der Ausstellung Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity im Art Institute Chicago mit. Impressionistische Gemälde wurden zusammen mit Kleidungsstücken aus der selben Zeit ausgestellt. Leider kann ich nicht einfach die Postkarten hier hineinstellen, aber Malereien aus dieser Zeit findet man natürlich im Internet. Am besten gefällt mir das "Pünktchenkleid" auf diesem Bild von Monet. Wer sich für die Mode dieser Epoche allgemein interessiert, sollte sich vielleicht mal die Bilder von James Tissot genauer ansehen. In a few weeks I'm going to move into the big city. (Just kidding, it's not that big, I just didn't know how to say it in English). Since my head is buzzing from all the organizing stuff I won't be able to sew for a while. But at least I still have time to dream of new projects and there's way enough inspiration around. Some of the best things I received or found during the summer holidays.

The first thing is a piece of lace that I found on my summer holidays in a second hand store in Copenhagen. The shop keeper said it dates back to 1910. I wonder if that's true, but anyway I find it just amazing and have never seen something alike in a "normal" store. The only thing that bothers me is that I'm afraid I can't sew something adequate with it. And it's only 3 meters long.

The second thing is a fan which a friend brought me from Venice. It just fits perfectly with a parasol I bought at the same place two years ago.

And as that friend really seems to know me well she also gave me a book of postcards from Chicago. There was this exebition Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity in the Art Institute Chicago. They showed impressionist paintings along with dresses from the same period. Unfortunately I can't show you the postcards with the dresses but of course the paintings can easily be found on the internet. I most like the dotted dress in the picture of Claude Monet. People interested in the fashion of that time could  take a closer look at the pictures of James Tissot. There is even a internet site just about this painter: http://www.jamestissot.org.
