Goldrock

Kennt ihr das auch, dass ihr daheim einen Stoff habt, der so schön ist, dass ihr einfach nie etwas daraus näht, weil ihr Angst habt, dass nichts Schlaues dabei rauskommt? Also ich habe mehrere solche Stoffe im Regal. Aber zumindest bei einem davon konnte ich mich endlich überwinden (Ich habe im Blog zurückgeblättert, und schon vor 2 Jahren schrieb ich an einer Stelle, dass ich etwas damit nähen sollte!).

Es handelt sich dabei um einen goldenen Brokatstoff, den mir eine Freundin geschenkt hat. Und ja, eigentlich handelt es sich um einen Vorhang. Darum ist der Stoff sehr schwer und steif. Ich nähte darum einen eher schlichten Rock. Naja, schlicht ist hier natürlich relativ, denn da ich ihn am "Japan Impact" in Lausanne anziehen wollte, sollte es ein Lolitarock werden. Und das bedeutet nunmal mindestens 2 Meter Rockumfang. Aber andererseits, wenn man schon einen goldenen Rock näht, dann soll er natürlich auch prunkvoll sein, nicht?

Ich entschied mich also auf der Vorderseite für Kellerfalten. Auf der Rückseite ist der Stoff eingereiht.

Der Bund ist vorne flach, hinten habe ich Gummibänder eingezogen, damit ich den Rock leicht an- und ausziehen kann.

Schliesslich nähte ich am Saum noch diese wunderschöne Spitze an. Ich hatte sie ursprünglich für meinen Blumenrock gekauft, dort wäre sie aber zu auffällig gewesen.

Mit dem Resultat bin ich recht zufrieden. Ich finde, die Spitze passt wirklich gut zu diesem Stoff. Weil der Stoff wie gesagt eher starr ist, fällt er nicht so schön, aber wenn man die Falten gut bügelt, ist das in Ordnung. Und da ich immer noch mehr als genug Stoff übrig habe, könnte ich auch noch einen zweiten, wirklich schlichten Rock damit nähen. Hoffentlich dauert das dann auch nicht wieder 2 Jahre...

Do you know the feeling of having fabric at home that's just so beautiful, you never get to do anything with it out of fear you won't live up to it? I personally have several such fabrics. But I overcame my worries at least with one of them (I scrolled back in this blog and I briefly mentioned I should use it a full two years ago!)

The fabric in question is a golden brocade I got from a friend of mine. And yes, it actually used to be a curtain. That's why it's very heavy and unwieldy. So I decided to make a rather plain skirt.
Relatively speaking, because I wanted to wear it at "Japan Impact" in Lausanne and it was supposed to be a Lolita skirt. Which of course means a circumference of at least 2 meters. But then, when you go for a golden skirt you might as well make it really splendid, right?

I opted for box pleats and a flat waistband at the front. At the backside I just gathered the fabric. And pulled elastic bands through the back part of the waistband.

Finally I attached this beautiful black and white lace to the seam. I had initially bought it for my floral skirt, but it would have been too prominent, so I didn't use it there. Here it fits just fine.

I'm relatively happy with the result. I think the lace really goes well with it. The fabric, as I mentioned, is stiff, so I have to really iron the pleats very well, otherwise they would stand out weirdly. But since I still have more than enough fabric left I could make another, really plain skirt. I hope this won't take another two years...
