Sherlock-Kleid: Fall abgeschlossen!

Hallo zu meinem 101. Post!

Ja, ich habe das mit dem 100. Beitrag etwas verschlafen und auch für Post Nr. 101 habe ich leider nichts Spezielles geplant... Ich hoffe, ihr findet es trotzdem interessant.
Und zwar habe ich ein altes Kleid abgeändert. Vor 6 Jahren waren wir in Schottland in den Ferien und ich fand dort Secondhand einen Sherlock Holmes-Hut! Den fand ich so toll, dass ich extra für diesen Hut ein passendes Kleid nähte. Da es eines meiner ersten selbstgemachten Kleider war, war ich ziemlich stolz darauf. Nur leider bemerkte ich mit der Zeit, dass es etwas unförmig ist, so dass ich es abgesehen von ein, zwei Anlässen nie mehr angezogen habe. Schade, denn der Stoff war sehr schön...
Nun, dieses Wochenende werde ich in Basel die Ausstellung "Mut zum Hut" anschauen gehen. Natürlich möchte ich da meinen Sherlock-Hut wieder einmal anziehen. Grund genug also, endlich das Kleid dazu abzuändern.

Das ist das ursprüngliche Kleid:

Das Hauptproblem ist, dass ich damals direkt unterhalb der Brust eine Unterteilung machte, das Kleid danach aber bis zur Taille weiterhin gerade verläuft. Als hätte ich mich nicht entscheiden können, ob ich ein Babydoll-Kleid oder ein tailliertes Kleid machen wollte. Das sah dann ziemlich unproportional aus! Die monströsen Rüschen links und rechts machten die Sache auch nicht wirklich besser. Zum Glück hatte ich noch genug Stoff übrig, so dass ich das gesamte Oberteil neu machen konnte.

Ich trennte also das Oberteil ab. Zusätzlich schnitt ich beim Rock noch die 5 cm weg, die einfach gerade nach unten liefen. Der Rock fängt jetzt genau bei der Taille an und wird sofort weiter. Ansonsten war der Rock gut so, wie er war.
Nur so nebenbei: Das Schnittmuster für den oberen Teil nahm ich aus "Otome no sewing Nr. 4", das ich vor Ewigkeiten geschenkt bekommen hatte. Die "Otome no sewing" sind Nähbücher für Lolitamode. Zwar ist alles auf Japanisch, aber man kommt erstaunlich weit, indem man nur die Bilder anschaut. Wer interessiert ist, findet auf Miss Carol Belles Blog Scans der einzelnen Ausgaben.

Ich schnitt also die einzelnen Teile zu und nähte sie zusammen. Als Verzierung gab es statt Monsterrüschen diesmal nur schlichte schwarze Spitze und Knöpfe.

Die vordere Mitte ist auf der Rückseite mit Bügelvlies verstärkt, damit sie sich nicht verzieht.

Die Klöppelspitze ist direkt auf den Stoff genäht.

Ich bin froh, dass ich dieses Kleid nun endlich abgeändert habe, so dass ich es wieder tragen kann. Und ich freue mich auf Basel dieses Wochenende :-)

Hello to my 101th post!

Yes, I forgot to mention anything in my 100th post. And I don't have anything special planned for post No. 101 either... I hope you at least find the topic at hand interesting.
What I did was altering an old dress. Six years ago we had been to Scotland and I found a Sherlock Holmes hat there! I loved it so much, I sewed an entire dress to fit this hat. As it was one of my first self made dresses I was super proud of it. But alas, I soon noticed that it really wasn't that great. It didn't fit properly, so I soon stopped wearing it. Which was a pity, because the fabric was very nice...
Anyway, I will be visiting the exhibition "hats off to hats!" in Basel this Weekend. And as I wanted to wear my Sherlock-hat for this occasion, I finally had a reason to improve this old dress.

You can see the old dress in the first picture. The main problem was that there is some sort of "belt" directly underneath the breast part, but then the dress continues to be narrow for some more centimetres. It's like I couldn't decide if I wanted a Babydoll or a waisted dress. As a result it was neither and looked very disproportionate! The monstrous ruffles on the side made things even worse. Luckily I still had plenty of fabric left, so I could make a completely new bodice.

So I cut off the upper part. Additionally I cut away the topmost 5 centimetres of the skirt. Now, the skirt starts directly at my waist and flares out immediately.

By the way: I took the pattern for the bodice from "Otome no sewing No. 4", which I got as a present ages ago. The "Otome no sewing" is a series of sewing books for Lolita fashion. It's all in Japanese, but I was surprised how much I could guess from just staring at the pictures. So after cutting out the different pieces I sewed everything together. Instead of monster ruffles I just used plain black lace and buttons this time.

I'm glad I finally altered this dress so it's at long last wearable again. And I'm looking forward to Basel :-)
