Letztes Mal habe ich ja mittels Shibori-Technik einen Schal gefärbt. Zwei Schals hätten es ja eigentlich werden sollen, aber während der eine ein recht hübsches Blau bekam, wurde der andere zu blass. Also habe ich ihn jetzt nochmals überfärbt, und zwar mit gelb. Und wie ihr sicher alle wisst: wenn man zwei Farben mischt, gibt es eine neue Farbe, in diesem Fall grün. Ich habe aber wieder Stellen abgeklemmt, so dass z.T. die alte Farbe noch sichtbar ist. Mit dem Resultat bin ich ziemlich zufrieden. So sehr sogar, dass ich etwas mit den Fotos herumspielte:
Ich bin dafür folgendermassen vorgegangen:
Zuerst faltete ich den Schal nochmals möglichst genau so wie beim ersten Mal.
Danach klemmte ich den Stoff wieder mit Holzscheiben ab, diesmal aber verschoben zu den ersten Kreisen. Dadurch ergibt sich ein besonderer Effekt: Wo eine weisse Stelle frei bleibt, wird diese beim Färben gelb, wo eine weisse Stelle abgedeckt ist, bleibt sie weiss und wo eine blaue Stelle abgedeckt ist, bleibt diese natürlich auch blau.
Der ganze Schal kam dann ins gelbe Färbebad:
Dadurch ergab sich ein doppeltes Kreismuster. Die Kreise spiegeln sich entlang der Stofffaltung und werden gegen innen unschärfer, so ist jede Stelle leicht anders. Die Farben sind immer noch recht pastellig, aber so stört mich das nicht mehr: Mir gefällt, wie sich die Farben sanft mischen. Das ist definitiv eine Idee, die ich weiterverfolgen möchte! Und natürlich erinnern mich die Farben im Moment auch an Frühling und Ostereier.

In my last post I used the Shibori technique to dye a scarf. Actually, I wanted to make two scarves. But while one had a rather nice blue tone, the other turned out just too pale. So I dyed this one again, this time in yellow. And as you all know, if you mix two different colours, you will get a new colour, in this case green. However, I used clamps again, so the original colour would still be visible in certain places.
I am quite happy with the result. So much even that I started to play around with the photos of the end result.
The procedure was as follows: I folded the scarf again, trying to follow the first folding as close as possible. Then I sandwiched the fabric between pairs of wooden discs again, but slightly offset. This results in a special effect: Where I left a white spot open, it would turn yellow, where I covered a white spot, it would remain white and where I covered a blue spot, it of course remained blue. Finally, I put the whole scarf into the yellow dyeing vat.
The result was a pattern of double circles. The circles are mirrored along the folds and get blurrier the further inside they are positioned, so each circle is unique. The scarf still has pastell colours, but this time I don't mind, I like the way the colours gently mix. So this is definitely an idea I want to pursue further! And at the moment, the colours of course also remind me of spring and Easter eggs :-).
